Pumpkin Patch

When we took the girls to a pumpkin patch last year Paige wasn't walking yet and Reese spiked a fever while we were there. Suffice to say, one girl left the patch covered in hay from crawling on the ground and the other shivered and cried on the way home. We had plans for a better experience this year.

The weekend after Paige's birthday we set out early in the morning for the drive out to Marble Falls. The girls were great on the drive and excited when we arrived--particularly Paige. "Pumpkins! Where the pumpkins?!" began issuing from the back seat for the last five or ten minutes of our drive. It was everything I do to keep her under wraps while we unpacked the car in the parking lot.

Once we got to the pumpkin patch Paige started examining pumpkins and running from pile to pile. Reese, on the other hand, seemed less impressed. I figured it was because this was her third trip to the patch.

For the next two hours we watched goats, picked out two small pumpkins for painting, took a hayride, and rode the barrel train.

Reese still wasn't into it. After a quick picnic lunch we packed up and headed home before the real crowds headed in. Low and behold, by the time we got to the car Reese was cranky and shivering. There's just something about the pumpkin patch that inspires her immune system. Three days of viral fever were setting in. Oh well, at least Paige wasn't covered in hay this year.
